Monopoly Market

Monopoly is a drug-only darknet market that is a little over two years old and still relatively small in size. The vendor selection, though limited, spans the entire globe, and listings tend to get a lot of views from potential customers. The market’s contents are viewable without having to log in, which makes it easy to confirm if it has what you want before creating an account. It is also possible to place orders without having to register an account — a particularly novel feature among darknet markets. Monopoly orders can be paid for with BTC or XMR, and PGP encryption is forced in all communications.

If anything, you could say Monopoly cares about the well-being of their customers as all users are required to jump through a series of hoops forcing them to acknowledge they may be getting phished if they got their link from a questionable source. The market admin has gone so far as to explain the risks users run when they choose to use the market’s ‘Direct Deal’ or traditional escrow system and do their best to ensure everybody knows what they’re doing when using the market. Some users have reported problems with orders after losing their transaction ID, which can make it extra hard to authenticate order placement. Aside from this, Monopoly generally has very few user complaints.

Product Selection

As mentioned earlier, Monopoly is on the smaller side, having yet to really prove itself as trustworthy and stable among seasoned vendors. The market currently carries around 1,200 listings in all which are split among eight categories (Benzos, Cannabis, Dissociatives, Ecstasy, Pharmaceuticals, Psychedelics, Steroids, Stimulants). Of these categories, Cannabis is by far the most popular, containing over half the market’s listings on any given day. Because it is a drug-only market and not cluttered with listings, it is quite easy to find the product for which you are searching (if they indeed have it).

Payment Methods

Monopoly supports Bitcoin (BTC) and Monero (XMR) as methods of payment. Orders can be placed using one of two methods: Direct Deal (funds are sent directly to vendor) and Escrow. With Direct Deal orders, funds are sent directly to the vendor, bypassing the market completely. With Escrow orders, funds are held by the market until the order is finalized by the buyer. Vendors who have established a higher level of trust are allowed to accept orders Direct Deal only, while other vendors have both options enabled. Note that some vendors will not ship internationally despite filter results listing them as such.

Monopoly Pros

  • No login and direct pay “wallet-less” system makes order placement easy.
  • Accepts XMR, seems to be heavily centered on security.
  • Dedicated community of vendors; market takes user feedback into consideration.

Monopoly Cons

  • Limited selection of vendors and product listings.
  • Order placement process can seem confusing or unsafe.
  • No digital or non-drug items.

In all, we’re surprised Monopoly isn’t a bigger market after two and a half years; perhaps users find the order placement system off-putting. But the vendors and users who are there have turned into a dedicated community who find that it suits their needs. If you aren’t too picky about what you are looking for, Monopoly may suit your needs just fine. If you need a bit more of a selection, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.
